Join us for Family Day March 30

Family Day, a first of its kind event at UT Health San Antonio, is set for March 30 on the Long campus.

The event, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature food trucks, a petting zoo, magic show, balloon artist, music, interactive booths and more.

“Family Day is for everyone–students, staff, faculty, alumni and their families,” said Charlotte Anthony, marketing specialist in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Anthony came up with the idea for Family Day at a recent graduation ceremony. “After talking with students, I realized it was the first time they had brought their parents and families to campus, and it was their last day here,” she said.

Faculty and staff, as well, don’t usually have a chance to show off where they work and spend so much time.

Anthony applied for and was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Student Services Fee to fund Family Day. An interprofessional committee is helping organize the event.

The day will also afford UT Health San Antonio schools, departments, institutes and other entities the opportunity to have a booth that explains their work. Anthony said she is hoping the booths will be interactive in some way.

Departments wishing to have a booth at Family Day should contact Alba Cook at CookA4@uthscsa.edu for information.
