Building the Pyramid - Our Vision Statement

A vision statement serves as an organization’s road map indicating both what the organization wants to become and as a compass to guide and define transformational initiatives for growth.

The vision of UT Health San Antonio and UT Health Physicians is to be a world-class academic health center transforming health and healthcare for a diverse society

At a time when health care delivery is in historic transition, the ability to transform is more essential than ever. “The volume-to-value transformation already under way in the U.S. has demonstrated the potential to truly deliver on the promise of the Triple Aim:

  1. improving the health of the population
  2. enhancing the experience and outcomes of the patient
  3. reducing per capita cost of care for the benefit of communities.”¹

A most critical piece in any successful transformation is the ability of the team to change. The ability to work together to make a difference in how things are done. “Social capital rather than financial capital will be more important in the era ahead. One can go to the bank to borrow money, but there is nowhere one can go to borrow trust, teamwork, reliability, and the desire to innovate and improve. Social capital — that is, improve the ways in which people work together and thus enable organizations to accomplish goals that would otherwise be out of reach.  State-of-the-science medicine must be a team activity, and the teams must work together well and efficiently.”²

Our vision – to be a world-class academic health center transforming health and healthcare for a diverse society – is a guiding principle that we must work toward and aspire to together as one team. When our vision is clear, everyone can work together to execute successfully, which will ultimately enhance the growth of our practice and improve the health of our community.
