Early detection for dementia risks
 

A study led by Dr. Sudha Seshadri, neurologist and director of the Biggs Institute For Alzheimer’s Research at UT Health San Antonio, identified a specific type of inflammation that can be used as “biomarker,” a way to detect a brain function decline and possibly dementia. This could possibly allow for time to treat the disease and reduce the effects.


Helping veteran’s with PTSD
 

The STRONG STAR Training Initiative at UT Health San Antonio is designed to improve combat veterans’ access to quality care for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), by training local mental health providers. The program provides training in the latest and most effective treatments for PTSD.


Free event: Memory and Music with the San Antonio Symphony
 

The Biggs Institute invites all individuals living with dementia and their caregivers for a free open rehearsal with the San Antonio Symphony on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 10:00 am.

 

Research shows that music can improve cognitive function and behavior that is common in the middle stages of dementia. Registration is required by Friday, January 17.
