Dear Mays Cancer Center community,
I’m pleased to share that two new team members have recently joined the Mays Cancer Center. Angela Crowder, RN, BSN, is the director of practice operations for the infusion center, and Roseanna Martinez, MPH, is the director of practice operations for patient access.
Angela Crowder, RN, BSN, director of practice operations for the infusion center, joins the Mays Cancer Center with over 10 years of clinical expertise in adult and pediatric hospital settings and has extensive experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams of nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists, case managers and physicians.
For the past two years, Angela has served as interim director of oncology and renal medicine for Methodist Hospital Metropolitan in downtown San Antonio. She was responsible for managing 60+ employees, maintaining licensures, fulfilling educational and training requirements, staff recruitment and scheduling. She also worked to improve the patient experience by streamlining protocols, reducing hospital-acquired infections and maintaining quality standards of care.
In her role at Mays Cancer Center, Angela will manage the day-to-day operations of the infusion center. She’ll be involved in assessing current processes and procedures and implementing practice changes to increase efficiency and streamline operations to improve quality metrics and patient satisfaction. Angela has been integrating herself into the practice by meeting with various departments and stakeholders to establish a quality assurance and practice quality improvement committee.
Angela received her Associate of Science in nursing from San Antonio College and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also holds a certification in oncology chemotherapy and plans to pursue her Master of Science in nursing starting this fall.
Roseanna Martinez, MPH, joined the Mays Cancer Center on August 1 as the director of practice operations for patient access. Roseanna has over 17 years of progressive leadership roles with a record of increasing practice growth and meeting quality measures in community health care.
For the last five years, Roseanna worked as director of operations for Mountain Park Health Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Her responsibilities included service integration for multidisciplinary clinics and business operations such as process improvement, quality oversight, strategic planning and implementation of telehealth applications. Roseanna provided insurance eligibility support, referral oversight and template management and scheduling for providers and staff. She was also instrumental in the outbound referral process by centralizing the referral department, assisting with call center workflows and building the foundation of an internal call center.
Roseanna will oversee various areas including the call center and welcome center and will supervise schedulers, benefits coordinators and referral coordinators. Roseanna has a deep passion for patient experience and will continue to develop training to increase patient and staff satisfaction scores.
Roseanna completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public health from Texas A&M University.
Please join me in welcoming Angela and Roseanna to the Mays Cancer Center!
Sincerely,
Gwen Tate, CNO
