March is Social Work Month

It is a wonderful time to recognize the many contributions of our amazing oncology social workers at the Mays Cancer Center. Social workers are an essential component to patient care. They support patients, families and caregivers with their psychological, social, emotional, and spiritual needs throughout their cancer journey. Social workers are there to help people with practical needs, like finding resources at the cancer center and in the community, and with complex needs such as adjusting to a cancer diagnosis, dealing with transitions and decision-making, navigating cultural issues, and communicating with family members, friends, and health care providers. Social workers help bridge gaps to strengthen individuals and families. Join us in thanking our social workers for all of the great work they do for our patients, their families and caregivers at the Mays Cancer Center!
