Following this week's news of tennis legend, Chris Evert revealing she is battling ovarian cancer, News 4 San Antonio spoke with Dr. Georgia McCann, Gynecologic Oncologist at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, to talk about the seriousness of ovarian cancer.

According to the CDC, ovarian cancer causes more deaths each year than any other gynecologic cancer in the U.S.

Dr. McCann says the risk factors include:

  • Women middle-aged or older
  • Have a close family member who has had ovarian cancer
  • Have an Eastern European or Ashkenazi Jewish background
  • Have never given birth or have had trouble getting pregnant
