More about the Gold Shield Awards

Gold Shield awards recognize those employees and teams whose Silver Star award nominations were voted to be the most remarkable and exceptional among all other nominations received throughout the year.

Gold Shield awards are presented every September during the annual year-end awards ceremony to acknowledge the exceptional level of care these employees have provided and the immeasurable impact their dedication has had in establishing UT Health San Antonio as the leader in health care.

UT Health Stars and Shields Awards recognize the practices, providers, clinical teams and staff who consistently go above and beyond to live out our promise to provide every patient with an exceptional patient experience. To recognize a UT Health Physicians coworker for their outstanding work in providing excellent, patient-centered care, nominate them to receive a Silver Star award at www.uthealthcare.org/stars.

Have you seen this tree while driving near Kyle Seale Parkway?

The tree is an evergreen that was lifted to the roof of our new primary, specialty and surgery center – signaling UT Health at Kyle Seale Parkway has reached its final height.

The Scandinavian tradition dates back over thirteen centuries ago. Our new, five-story, 108,000-square-foot medical facility is expected to open in early 2024!

Spread joy, not germs: Take precautions this holiday season

Celebrate the holidays while taking steps to stop the spread of germs and illness. Watch as the MythBusters demonstrate how quickly viruses can spread in a group setting.

To help our coworkers and loved ones stay healthy and safe this season, we will follow important safety measures during our holiday celebrations.

Have happy, healthy holidays! Below are safety requirements all clinical sites will follow this year when having holiday celebrations and meals:

  • Meeting room(s) should accommodate a minimum of a 3-foot separation between people and away from the food access area.
  • Events will be limited to packaged meals, including all food, beverages, utensils, etc.
  • Expectations for safe practices should be communicated and clarified with all attendees:
    • Participants will self-monitor for symptoms and only enter the room (and building) if they are free of any symptoms.
    • Hand sanitizers will be provided within the room.
    • Hand hygiene will be completed upon room entry and before/after food access.
    • Masks may be removed for consumption of food/beverages while ensuring the 3-foot separation between participants.
  • The event organizer is responsible for coordinating safety measures such as: packaged meals, 3 foot separation, hand sanitizers, communication, and disinfection of touch surfaces in the room promptly after the event.
