UT Health San Antonio Cancer Expert Explains Signs & Symptoms of Colorectal Cancer

For the second year in a row, News 4 San Antonio’s David Chancellor is participating in ‘No-Shave November’, which is part of a massive campaign to raise cancer awareness. To kick things off, we want to bring attention to colon and rectal cancer.

Colorectal cancer is the second most common form of cancer in the United States and the third most common cause of cancer-related death. Experts say it is also rapidly increasing in people under 50.

Dr. Alicia Logue, Colon and Rectal Cancer Surgery Specialist at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, says some of the things you should watch for include:

  • Change in bowel habits
  • Rectal bleeding or blood in stool
  • Cramping or abdominal discomfort
  • Weakness and fatigue
  • Unintended weight loss
  • May overlap symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome
