Marsha C. Kinney, MD, receives Society for Hematopathology Berard-Dorfman Founders Award

Marsha C. Kinney, M.D., Division of Hematopathology Director and Frank M. Townsend Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, has been selected as a recipient of the Society for Hematopathology Berard-Dorfman Founders Award for her outstanding leadership, distinguished service and contributions to the field of hematopathology.

“It is a great honor to join those who have previously received the award in memory of Drs. Berard and Dorfman, who were giants in our field,” Dr. Kinney said. “I was truly surprised and humbled by this recognition by my peers. In addition to the awards committee and individuals who nominated me, I wish to thank the many mentors, sponsors and colleagues who have made my career possible."

The Berard-Dorfman Founders Award was established in 2013 to commemorate Drs. Costan W. Berard and Ronald F. Dorfman who co-founded the Society for Hematopathology in 1981.

An official announcement of the award occurred during the Society for Hematopathology Companion Meeting at the Annual Meeting of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology in Los Angeles on March 20.
