Mays Cancer Center: Making a difference in the EMERALD trial
 
 

Virginia Kaklamani, MD explains how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval of Elacestrant, a treatment for postmenopausal women and adult men with ER+/HER2- advanced or metastatic breast cancer, will impact cancer treatment and the role Mays Cancer Center played in the EMERALD trial that led to the novel drug therapy approval.

$4 million from CPRIT to support cancer, aging and smoking cessation studies
 
 

UT Health San Antonio will receive $4 million from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. Patricia Chalela, DrPH, an investigator with the Institute for Health Promotion Research (IHPR) will receive $1,992,330 of the funding to support a five-year study of Quitxt, the IHPR’s culturally appropriate mobile smoking cessation program.


 
 
Greehey Campus Parking Updates
 
 

We are listening and working diligently to ease the transition for our parking relocations during construction.

 

Parking Tickets & Warnings
Parking enforcement officers on the Greehey campus have been instructed to only write warnings through Friday, February 17. If a citation was written by mistake, it can be reduced to a warning if the employee appeals and notes they were unaware of where to park.

Shuttle Service and Safe Walk
Download the UT Health SAfe app. On it you will be able to access valuable resources including:
-The shuttle bus tracker
- Request a shuttle or call for a shuttle
- Safe Walk to request a UTPD escort while you walk
- Virtual Walk Home which alerts UTPD to where you are and where you are heading

COVID-19 testing updates
 
 

COVID-19 testing is now offered once a day at 4:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays inside the Wellness 360 employee and student health clinic, except on UT Health San Antonio holidays. Testing will no longer be offered in the School of Nursing parking lot. Results will be available in MyChart the following business day after 12pm.
