Paid Time Off in excess of 80 hours expires Aug. 31
Paid Time Off in excess of 80 hours expires Aug. 31

Background on expiring PTO balances

The new Comprehensive Leave Program was launched Sept. 1, 2021 after receiving approval for our program design through the UT System Board of Regents. As part of the new program, Paid Time Off hours were front loaded for employees to use at the beginning of the fiscal year or on the start date for new hires.

  • Employees were asked to manage their time during the year to allow sufficient opportunities to take time off from work.
  • This encourages the opportunity to rejuvenate and allow time for mental health and selfcare.
  • Flexibility is built into the program allowing employees to transfer up to 80 hours of PTO into the new fiscal year.
  • PTO balances over 80 hours expire at the end of the fiscal year on Aug. 31, 2022 and will no longer be available for use.
  • Floating holidays will not transfer into the new fiscal year.
  • As a reminder, PTO hours are not accrued and not payable upon separation from UT Health San Antonio.
